Sermon: Deliver Us from Evil (Seventh Petition)
Text: Matthew 6:13b
Focus: Jesus rescued us from sin, death, and the power of the devil by his death on the cross.
Function: That they would trust and follow Jesus to the cross of Calvary.
Focus Statement: God tempts no one.
Function Statement: That they would take courage by Jesus overcoming temptation for us.
Doctrinal Locus: “God tempts no one. We pray in this petition that God would guard and keep us so that the devil, the world, and our sinful nature may not deceive us or mislead us into false belief, despair, and other great shame and vice…” (SC, 6th Petition).
