Memo: Re: Change in trip itinerary

To: Oberammergau Travelers

From: Pastor Chris Matthis & Rick Brindle

Date: November 18, 2021

Dear Fellow Travelers,

Peace be with you! I write to update you with important information about a significant change in our itinerary for our church’s trip to Europe in 2022. Our travel dates and pricing remain the same.

Today I received word from Nawas International that, due to our small group size (19 people), we will be combined with another group (yet to be determined). This also means that our trip itinerary will change from the custom trip originally planned to one of their standard trips. In order to keep our original itinerary and pricing, we would have needed a minimum of 36 tour participants. We are just too far short of that goal.

We will still travel from May 24th-June 4th, 2022, departing from and returning to Denver International Airport. Our new itinerary will include all the major cities on the previous itinerary—with the addition of two (2) nights in Berlin. We will spend one night less each in Vienna and Munich than originally planned.

Here is the basic trip outline (with a more detailed itinerary coming soon):

  • Berlin – 2 nights
  • Prague – 2 nights
  • Vienna – 2 nights
  • Salzburg – 1 night
  • Oberammergau – 2 nights
  • Munich – 1 night

Berlin is a world-class destination, and one of my favorite cities to visit. People from our 2017 tour will be able to advise you on what to see in your free time—from magnificent art and history museums to iconic architecture and excellent street vendors. I look forward to picking up where I left off 4 years ago.

In the coming days, you will receive a letter from Nawas with official notice of these changes. Along with that letter, you will receive a form acknowledging your understanding and acceptance of the itinerary changes. This is a possibility we all agreed to in the fine print when we signed our registration forms.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding. If you have any questions, please direct them first to me or Rick Brindle. I anticipate we will have many of the same questions, and it will streamline communication and eliminate confusion if Rick and I communicate with Nawas on your behalf.

I look forward to traveling with you next year.  Please watch for more information after Christmas about trip orientation meetings.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Chris Matthis and Mr. Rick Brindle, Trip Co-Hosts
